Siri Makes a Guest Appearance on MSNBC’s ‘Last Word’

By Charles Fain Lehman

Siri, Apple’s “intelligent assistant,” made an unexpected cameo on Thursday night’s episode of MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.”

During O’Donnell’s opening monologue, in which he discussed “appeasement,” the AI voice can be heard twice speaking over the host.

“I’m having some trouble with the connection. Please try again in a moment,” it says.

It can be heard again a few seconds later saying, “sorry,” before it is whisked off of the set.

Later in the show, O’Donnell explained the mishap.

“Thanks for getting control of that iPad that decided to join the conversation in the middle of what I had to say,” he said to guest Nick Akerman.

“And Bernie, thank you for that save,” he said, addressing someone off camera. “Bernie rushed in and grabbed it. These iPads have a mind of their own.”
