Report: Comey Memo Says Trump Asked Him To End Investigation Into Flynn

By Nick Bolger

President Donald Trump reportedly asked former FBI Director James Comey to end the investigation into Trump’s first National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

The conversation came during a February meeting in the Oval Office and was relayed in a memorandum written by Comey, according to a Tuesday report from the New York Times.

Comey reportedly authored the memo immediately after the meeting, which occurred the day after Flynn resigned.

“I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go,” Comey recalls Trump telling him.

According to the memo, Comey did not respond to the request to end the investigation, instead only agreeing that Flynn is a “good guy.”

Comey reportedly only told senior FBI officials and close allies of the memo. The New York Times did not see the memo; instead they reportedly had portions of the memo read to them by a close Comey ally.

The White House stated the retelling of Trump’s meeting with Comey in the memo was “not a truthful or accurate portrayal of the conversation.”
