Graham: Trump Has ‘Basically Drawn a Red Line’ With North Korea’s Nuclear Program

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R., S.C.) told CBS co-host Charlie Rose on Wednesday the United States is “absolutely” ready to act on North Korea and President Donald Trump has drawn a red line with their nuclear program.

“Do you believe that the United States is prepared to act?” Rose asked.

“Oh absolutely,” Graham said. “There are two scenarios where we would go to war with North Korea: They attack Guam or some other American interest or our allies or if they try to keep developing a ICBM with a nuclear weapon on top to hit the homeland.”

Graham continued by saying that Trump has “basically drawn a red line” and that he will never allow North Korea to attack the United States with an ICBM missile.

“He’s not going to contain the threat. He’s going to stop the threat,” Graham said.

Rose followed up by asking Graham about the casualties that could result from a retaliation on South Korea.

“General [James] Mattis described it very well, it would be a horrific war unfortunately,” Graham said. “We are headed that way unless North Korea stops.
